Eliza Noh, associate professor and coordinator of the Asian American studies program, received the 2015 Community Heroes Award from the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA). The awards honor distinguished leaders and organizations that have shown great dedication and contributions to the Orange County community.
Binod Tiwari, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, was recognized with the Outstanding Service Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers Geo-Institute, Los Angeles Chapter, for his service on the organization’s board of directors.
Tiwari also is faculty adviser to the CalGeo CSUF Chapter, which received the 2015 Rising Star Award from the California Geotechnical Engineering Association. The student organization also received the 2012 award, which is based on such factors as growth of professional development activities and field visit opportunities.
Joshua Smith, associate professor of physics, was invited to attend a dedication ceremony of the Advanced LIGO Project May 19 at the LIGO Hanford facility in Richland, Washington.
