The National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association has awarded gold accreditation to the College of Communications’ NSSLHA chapter for the fifth consecutive year.
NSSLHA is the student division of the national professional association for speech-language pathologists and audiologists. Less than 10 percent of student chapters nationwide attain gold chapter recognition each year.
Student chapter members must participate in raising awareness for speech- and audiology-related issues, as well as in fundraising for on-campus clinics; hold events to highlight diverse career options within the field; and participate in volunteer service, explained graduate student Deyanah Jarrar, vice president of the CSUF chapter, which has a membership of about 230.
