What:
“Prehistoric OC,” a family festival celebrating archaeology, paleontology, history, culture and science, will be held Oct. 10 at Ralph B. Clark Regional Park. The John D. Cooper Archaeological and Paleontological Center, a partnership between Cal State Fullerton and OC Parks, presents the free educational event to celebrate International Archaeology Day and National Fossil Day.

Featured:
Activities include archaeological and paleontological demonstrations and exhibits, a Junior Scientist Camp with hands-on learning, Native American storytelling, demonstrations and lectures by CSUF faculty experts and others on archaeology, paleontology and geology. The park’s paleontology museum, featuring an extensive Orange County fossil collection, will host guided tours.

- Volcano demonstrations by Vali Memeti, CSUF assistant professor of geological sciences
- “Our Backyard Geology in Orange County,” by Richard Lozinksy of Fullerton College
- Native American storytelling by Jacque Nunez of “Journeys to the Past”
- “The Haavakam (Beautiful People): Gabrielino (Tongva) of Southern California” by Desiree Martinez, archaeologist and member of the Gabrielino-Tongva tribe
- “The Fossils of Clark Park” by Lisa Babilonia of the park’s paleontology museum
- “A Trek Through the Fossil Beds,” a guided hike to the park’s fossil locations
