Bonnie Williams, assistant professor of English, comparative literature and linguistics, has received a 2015-16 American Postdoctoral Fellowship Award for “Linguistic Gifts: Teaching African American Verbal Tradition to College Writers” from the American Association of University Women. Williams’ research centers on issues in composition studies, including theorizing African American literate and rhetorical traditions, applying perspectives from race studies and culturally relevant pedagogy to teaching and learning issues, and highlighting new teaching approaches to literacy.
