The College of the Arts received several accolades in the OC Weekly’s “Best of Orange County 2015.” The Nicholas and Lee Begovich Gallery won “Best Art Gallery,” while G. Ray Kerciu, professor emeritus of art, was recognized as “Best Visual Artist.” Two of Kerciu’s Confederate flag paintings, part of a series he created in reaction to the atmosphere at the University of Mississippi in 1962 when he was a young faculty member there, were recently exhibited at the Laguna Art Museum.
John Spiak, director and chief curator of CSUF’s Grand Central Art Center, was named “Best Curator.”
“Grand Central Art Center’s John Spiak has the ‘Best Taste In the County’ and that’s a big deal because there are many curators with insight, knowledge and adventurous ideas residing here,” stated the publication.
