Gail E. Brooks has been appointed interim vice president for human resources, diversity and inclusion, effective Jan. 11, 2016. Brooks will continue in this capacity through the successful completion of the national search for a permanent vice president for HRDI.
Brooks served as the vice chancellor for human resources for the California State University from 2007 to 2014, overseeing academic human resources, benefits, campus relations and dispute resolution, collective bargaining, compensation, data research and analysis, policy development and professional development for all 23 CSU campuses and the Chancellor’s Office. She was granted vice chancellor emerita status.
Prior to joining the CSU in 2006 as associate vice chancellor for human resources, Gail was the assistant vice chancellor for human resources at the University of California, Irvine, where she provided strategic leadership to the institution’s comprehensive human resources programs for seven years. Prior to this, she served in both private and nonprofit sectors.
Brooks earned a juris doctor degree, as well as a master of arts in industrial relations from Wayne State University, Michigan.
