Takenori Aso, associate professor emeritus of sociology, died Oct. 1. Aso had taught at Cal State Fullerton for more than 30 years.
The scholar, whose research specialities included the study of fertility rates in Japan, joined the campus in 1973. He earned his doctorate at Washington State University following his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and his master’s from the University of North Dakota.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; a daughter, Noriko; a son, Michitake; and two grandsons. In accordance with Aso’s wishes, the family will intern his ashes next year in the family grave in Japan.
