Recently, Cal State Fullerton donated 10 laptop computers to JOYA Scholars, a Fullerton-based, nonprofit collaborative that works with high school students from the Garnet neighborhood — five blocks where more than 1,200 low-income children from working class immigrant families make their home.
The goal of the JOYA Scholars program is to encourage these students to pursue a university education through tutoring, one-on-one mentoring, campus visits, SAT preparation and more.
“This technology will surely make a difference in the lives of our students,” said Laura Macias, executive director of JOYA Scholars. “We are very grateful to Cal State Fullerton for this generous gift.”
