The beauty and ingenuity of seeds is the subject of a new exhibit at the Fullerton Arboretum’s Orange County Agricultural and Nikkei Heritage Museum.
Opening Sunday, March 6, and continuing through May 1 is “Seeds: Nature’s Artful Engineering,” featuring more than 25 detailed photographs portraying intriguing seed structures and dispersal mechanisms of native plants.
The showcase features the work of Northern California plantsman and naturalist John Whittlesey, as well as more than 30 seed specimens, in an effort to increase awareness and appreciation of seeds and their role in the state’s ecological systems. Whittlesey co-curated the exhibit with Jennifer Jewell, creator and host of “In a North State Garden,” part of North State Public Radio’s food and gardening programming.
The museum is open Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free but donations appreciated. More information can be found online.
