Chandrasekhar Putcha, professor of civil and environmental engineering, was selected as a Distinguished Fellow in the 2016 Office of Naval Research Summer Faculty Research Program at the Naval Surface Warfare Center-Corona Division in Norco.
As a fellow, the 2006-07 Cal State Fullerton Outstanding Professor and 35-year faculty member, is conducting research in the area of metrology, an interdisciplinary area that deals with measurements of instruments in various fields. During the 10-week program, he is working in the area of engineering reliability to determine failure rates for such devices as pressure gauges.
His work has resulted in more than 150 refereed research papers, and his research funding has come from several sources, including the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force.
