Albert R. Vogeler, lecturer emeritus in liberal studies, died Sept. 30. He joined the campus community in 1973 and served for 21 years.
In 1994, Vogeler was named curator for the Pollak Library’s Roy V. Boswell Collection for the History of Cartography, a nationally known collection of more than 1,500 rare maps illustrating the development of cartography from the 16th through 19th century, as well as scholarly books on cartography, geography, exploration and navigation. He also served for many years in the Patrons of the Library support group. The educator, who earned a doctorate in modern British history from Columbia University, is survived by his wife, Martha, professor emeritus of English and comparative literature.
