Recent presentations by campus members included talks and service as a cinematography juror.
Kate Burlingham, assistant professor of history, will share her research into 19th-century American missionaries in Angola Dec. 7 as part of the Fullerton Public Library’s Town and Gown Lecture Series. Elaine Lewinnek, acting chair and professor of American studies, recently discussed her current book project, “A People’s History of Orange County,” at the local public library.
Jacqueline Frost, professor of cinema and television arts, recently participated as a jury member on the student etudes competition in cinematography at Camerimage, a Nov. 12-19 international film festival in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Brady Heiner, assistant professor of philosophy, recently spoke at Hope International University about his research on mass incarceration and the abolition of slavery. Heiner is director of CSUF’s Project Rebound, which helps formerly incarcerated students reintegrate in a college setting. He argues that abolishing slavery in the United States is unfinished and a commitment to the abolition of slavery and its afterlives demands that consideration be given to abolishing prisons as we know them.
