Cal State Fullerton will celebrate its partnership with Univision Los Angeles in a ribbon-cutting at its on-campus news bureau Thursday, Dec. 15.
President Mildred García is scheduled to speak at the beginning of the 2 to 4 p.m. ceremony in Room 90 of the Pollak Library, lower level. Luis Patiño, Univision’s senior vice president and general manager of Univision Local Media Group in Los Angeles; Marco Flores, Univision’s vice president of news and local media; Mayola Delgado, Univision’s director of community empowerment and communications; and Alex Nogales, president of the National Hispanic Media Coalition are scheduled to attend.
The partnership continues efforts by CSUF’s Latino Communications Initiative to boost students’ career development opportunities. The news bureau connects Univision with its young and bilingual audience, and provides CSUF College of Communications students with mentors and internship opportunities. Reporter and anchor Francisco Ugalde is based at the Cal State Fullerton Univision Bureau.
CSUF broadcast journalism students will have the opportunity to visit Univision’s Los Angeles newsroom and hear from reporters as lecturers in their classrooms. The company will provide access to Univision’s news feed for CSUF’s student news programs on “OC News” and “Al Día.”
