Shortly after the new year, Cal State Fullerton will welcome Yusheng “Chris” Liu to campus as the associate vice president for research and sponsored projects.
Liu brings to the campus more than two decades of experience in higher education and research. His appointment is effective Jan. 9.
The educator has served since 2015 as associate vice president for research at Prairie View A&M University. He also served as program director at the National Science Foundation, where he managed the Sedimentary Geology and Paleobiology program under the Directorate for Geosciences, and co-managed two cross-disciplinary programs in the Directorate for Biological Sciences. Liu also was director of the Center for Excellence in Paleontology at East Tennessee State University, where he served as an associate professor in biological sciences.
Lui holds a doctorate and master of science degree from Nanjing Institute of Geology & Paleontology in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as a bachelor of science degree from Sichuan University.
