Cal State Fullerton alumna Melanie Schlotterbeck ’98, ’01 (B.A. geography, M.S. environmental studies) will keynote the All Points of the Compass geography conference at her alma mater, Friday, Nov. 2, in the Titan Student Union’s Portola Pavilion A and B.
With expertise in land use, planning, transportation, facilitation and mitigation, Schlotterbeck currently serves as a technical consultant for Hills For Everyone, a nonprofit organization that has protected nearly 18,000 acres of local land. Her talk, “Geography Weaves Many Landscapes Together” will center on a case study of the Puente-Chino Hills Wildlife Corridor.
The free, public event also will feature research by geography students and faculty members, a map competition and a panel presentation by students working in CSUF’s new Cal-Dendro Tree Ring Laboratory.
CSUF’s Geography Club and the Department of Geography and the Environment will host the conference, with support from the Humanities and Social Sciences Inter-Club Council. More information and event registration are available online.
