Gloria Rock, an associate professor emeritus of philosophy who served Cal State Fullerton for 24 years, died in August.
During her time on campus, 1969 to 1993, Rock distinguished herself as a dedicated teacher of logic with high academic standards for her students. The Department of Philosophy credits her with creating a logic laboratory and developing a multicultural course on western civilization.
She also served in a number of leadership capacities, including department chair, member of the Long Range Planning and Priorities Committee, founder and member of the Liberal Studies Program Council, and member of the Academic Standards and University Curriculum committees.
Rock received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado and her master’s degree and doctorate from UCLA.
