Mark Alan Redhead, professor of political science, died Dec. 18 after a long illness. He was 50 years old.
Since joining Cal State Fullerton in 2003, Redhead taught core classes in both the undergraduate and graduate political science programs. In addition, he published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored two scholarly books, “Charles Taylor: Thinking and Living Deep Diversity” and “Reasoning With Who We Are: Democratic Theory for a Not So Liberal Era.”
Redhead received his bachelor’s degree from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and his master’s degree and doctorate from The New School in New York City. He previously taught at Colgate, Notre Dame and Oregon State universities.
He is survived by his wife, Ornella Torralba; sons, Astor and Cesc Redhead; parents, Alan and Eva Redhead; and sister, Susan Redhead.
