Dolores Vura, assistant vice president for institutional research and analytical studies emeritus, who served the campus for 22 years, died Aug. 4.
Vura joined the campus in 1986 and was awarded emeritus status in 2008. Over the years, she interacted with hundreds of Cal State Fullerton administrators, staff and faculty members and students. Many became her close, personal friends.
Under Vura’s leadership, the Office of Institutional Research and Analytical Studies became a full-fledged operating office providing analysis and reports that were important to university-wide planning for the future. She also worked as a member of the WASC steering committee for three cycles of reaccreditation and was an active member of the University Planning Committee.
She also developed the first campus educational equity report to the CSU, and it was used as a template and adopted by all 23 CSU campuses.
Vura was an avid traveler who delighted in new adventures. She is survived by her son, Christopher Abernethy, a CSUF alumnus.
Donations in Vura’s name may be made to the CSUF School of Music.
