Coming Fall 2024…Accelerated Master’s in Applied Computer Science

Share This:

There is a highly-anticipated new program coming to California State University, Fullerton. It’s the 16-month, 30-unit accelerated master’s degree in applied computer science (AMACS) program!

With the fast-paced development of software technology, there’s a need for a program that will efficiently prepare individuals to lead projects at software development tech companies.

Christopher Ryu, chair of the CSUF Computer Science Department and creator of the AMACS program, feels that the traditional 2-year length of a master’s in computer science “does not always adapt to the rapid advancements in technology at the pace expected in the industry.” The accelerated curriculum of AMACS is designed to incorporate quickly-evolving technology trends and teach students how to meet workforce demands.

This program is ideal for individuals who:

  • Obtained an undergraduate degree in computer science (or closely related field) and are looking to advance their education
  • Have prior experience with software development such as a software engineer or software developer and need training or “upskilling”
  • Seek a lead position in a software development technology organization, such as Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Salesforce, and many others across the nation.

Earning a Master’s in Applied Computer Science can lead to careers as a:

  • Senior software developer/engineer
  • Web/mobile application developer
  • Information security analyst
  • Project manager/director

Applications for this program will open in Fall 2023, and classes start in Fall 2024. Learn more at https://extension.fullerton.edu/info/amacs.aspx.
