Three biological science majors won awards at the recent 40th annual West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference in San Diego, which brought together student and faculty participants from around the country.
Joshua McKinley, a Biology Undergraduate Research Scholars Training Program (BURST) scholar who works with Jennifer Burnaford, assistant professor of biological science, was honored for outstanding oral presentation in marine biology for his research on the feeding behavior of sea anemone after low tide exposure.
Brianna Kdeiss and Sara Ord, mentored by Nikolas Nikolaidis, associate professor of biological science, received a best poster award for their study on how lipids, the major components of cellular membranes, transform the function of stress proteins.
Attendees included 25 students and faculty members Kathryn Dickson and William J. Hoese.
