April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which marks an important time for all Titans to reflect and discuss how each of us can help create a safer and more inclusive campus community that strives to prevent sexual assault and sexual misconduct. The national theme for SAAM this year, as declared by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, is “Building Connected Communities.” Here at Cal State Fullerton, our 2024 SAAM theme is “Building a Connected Titan Community.” The goal of this theme is to remind us that our actions impact one another, and we each have the power to create a safer, more inclusive and more welcoming campus community that stands against sexual assault. In support of this goal, Title IX and Gender Equity and TitanTHRIVE are hosting awareness events and skill-building workshops throughout the month of April.
The month’s offerings include annual awareness events such as the Clothesline Project and Denim Day as well as several skill-building events and workshops for both students and employees. Workshops focus on affirmative consent, healthy boundaries and communication, bystander intervention, and more. Students and employees are encouraged to attend events and workshops to learn about preventing sexual misconduct and violence within and beyond our community.
