Cal State Fullerton faculty are traveling across continents sharing their experience and knowledge in a variety of ways.
Kristofer Brock, assistant professor of human communication studies, spoke Aug. 10 at the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication Conference, co-presenting “Toward Clarification of Augmented Input Techniques for Persons With Developmental Disabilities who use Aided AAC: A Systematic Review.”
Last month, Min Jung Kim, assistant professor of human communication studies, presented “Assessing Speech Sound Disorders Through Phonetic-Acoustic Analysis” at the Korean Society of Speech Sciences Summer Workshop in Seoul; and Marti Klein, lecturer in liberal studies, presented “Texas Slavery, the Mexican Navy in the Imperialistic Struggle for Control of Alta California” at the Seventh International Congress of Maritime Historians in Perth, Australia.
Nathan T. Carr, professor of modern languages and literatures, traveled to Vietnam to conduct nine days of training workshops on test analysis and validation methods at the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS), a part of Vietnam National University. The workshops on behalf of the State Department, will serve as planning sessions for organizing coherent research agenda for the Vietnamese Standardised Test of English Proficiency, a national test that includes reading, writing, speaking and listening. He will return in October for additional advising and working with groups, including ULIS faculty.
In June, Stan Breckenridge, lecturer in African American studies, performed “A Musical Journey of America” at the Opera House in Poznan, Poland. The performance, with classical pianist Pamela Howland, was sponsored by the English faculty at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
Bryan Cantley, professor of art, will present a paper, “Deviated ƒutures & ƒantastical Histories,” at the international “Drawing Futures” conference at The Bartlett, University College London in November. The paper will be included in a conference publication.
