David Forgues, who has served as interim vice president for human resources, diversity and inclusion since January, was named to the permanent position today.
“Since joining Cal State Fullerton as the chief of operations for the Division of Student Affairs in 2012, Dr. Forgues has personified our Universitywide theme — Titans Reach Higher — and emerged as a collaborative, thoughtful and well-respected leader across all divisions and colleges,” said President Mildred A. García in an announcement to the campus community.
Since the interim appointment, “he has leveraged his student affairs HR experience in a transparent and collaborative manner that has proven integral to not only the success of the division he now leads, but also the University,” García wrote. “He’s worked seamlessly with my senior leadership team and across all divisions and colleges to better uphold our commitments to shared governance, collaboration, diversity and inclusion.”
While with student affairs, he served as chief of operations and human resources officer, overseeing more than 400 employees. He also served as the division’s lead on the strategic planning process, public relations, assessment programs and divisionwide projects.
Prior to joining CSUF, Forgues was assistant dean in the Academic Success Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and director of new student programs at Northern Arizona University. He has a Ph.D. in higher education and a Ed.M. in student affairs administration from the University at Buffalo.
