Nov. 1 marked the beginning of Native American Heritage Month. Cal State Fullerton is situated on lands originally cared for by the Tongva and Acjachemen Peoples. CSUF acknowledges that this land holds great historical, spiritual and personal significance for its original inhabitants and honors their enduring connection to it.
Cal State Fullerton’s commitment to acknowledging this land is significantly grounded in efforts to promote equity and inclusion. The Titan community recognizes and advocates for the sovereignty of Native and Indigenous nations within this territory and into broader society. By offering this land acknowledgment, CSUF affirms its commitment to Indigenous communities and respect for the tribes that have called this land home for centuries.
Recognizing Native American Heritage Month is a meaningful step in fostering an inclusive campus that values diversity, equity and inclusion. This year will mark the beginning of the Native American and Indigenous Resource Center in the Office of Diversity Initiatives and Resource Centers. This new center will be student-centered and strive to build community and success among native students at CSUF.
Throughout November, all Titans are encouraged to engage in activities that promote greater understanding of Native American history, culture and contemporary issues. Visit the Native American Heritage Month website for more information.
