A group of Chinese scholars arrived on campus this fall semester for a six-month educational sojourn to learn American teaching strategies, culture and more. Through a partnership between Cal State Fullerton and Shanghai Normal University, the 13 visiting scholars also will conduct research, engage in exchanges within their academic disciplines, participate in workshops, observe classes and deliver guest lectures.
The participants, who hold master’s degrees and doctorates in a range of disciplines, teach at universities and colleges, including Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Lida Polytechnic Institute and Shanghai Film Art Academy. “The learning is mutual, and the impact is beyond measure,” said Ding-Jo H. Currie, who teaches in the College of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and is coordinating the visit.
