Cal State Fullerton’s University Semester Abroad program offers international students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in American academic and cultural life. As highlighted in University Extension’s 2024 Annual Impact Report, the program enables students to attend CSUF for one to two semesters.
This past year, the USA program hosted 177 students from more than 20 different countries, including Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam.
The students worked toward completing a degree, sought career development, conducted research and more. Through the program, they gained the valuable experience of studying in America while also developing practical, applicable and interpersonal skills.
Liane Rudolf traveled from Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Germany and spent the spring 2024 semester at CSUF. She said her time at CSUF was transformative, helping her grow both academically and personally.
Rudolf emphasized the value of stepping out of her comfort zone and immersing herself in a different culture.
“People are so open here, and just talking to them will give you so many new views and insights. From the beaches over big cities to the mountains, California is so versatile,” said Rudolf.
By offering a program to explore American education while forging cross-cultural connections, CSUF continues to play a vital role in empowering international students and promoting global learning.
