Cal State Fullerton School of Music’s Cello Choir, directed by Professor of Music Bongshin Ko, recently returned from a highly successful summer 2025 concert tour in Germany.
Performing at Vito Eltville Rheingau and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt, the ensemble received standing ovations for their artistry and collaborative spirit.
This year’s tour carried special significance. CSUF alum Matthew Fang, a teacher and conductor at Esperanza High School, was invited to serve as co-leader alongside Ko. Fang also performed with the group, exemplifying the university’s tradition of faculty and alumni engagement and mentorship.
Highlights included joint rehearsals, master classes and a culminating concert with HfMDK cello students under the guidance and collaboration of Ko, Jan Ickert and Sabine Krams. The program featured works by Schubert, Dvořák, Klengel, Villa-Lobos and others.
The tour showcased CSUF’s commitment to artistic excellence, cultural exchange and global partnerships, demonstrating the lasting impact of its alumni and the strength of its international collaborations.
