To ensure that students, faculty, staff and campus visitors have 24/7 access to safety resources and information, Cal State Fullerton’s Police Department launched the TitanSafety mobile application.
The app offers robust features, including emergency and non-emergency assistance, mental health and support resources, anonymous tip reporting, and more.
“The new TitanSafety mobile app further supports holistic safety for the Titan community and puts safety and wellness at their fingertips,” said Anthony Frisbee, CSUF PD police chief. “Whether someone needs a university resource or just wants to enhance their emergency preparedness, the app provides all this and more.”
In the app, users can call 911 in an emergency, gain access to CSUF Counseling and Psychological Services and the Mobile Crisis Team, or chat directly with the CSUF Police Department.
“The app makes it easy for students to share their location and access other resources,” said Thomas Bolls, a second-year marketing student. “It’s a really reliable resource that students should pay attention to.”
One of the CSUF Police Department’s top safety services, the Campus Safety Escort, has been adapted to provide campus members with a virtual safety escort that can track their location and provide additional assistance if necessary.
“If you don’t arrive at your destination within the estimated time, the app will notify our 24-hour dispatch center, which will contact you to check on your well-being,” said Christoper Brown, CSUF PD detective sergeant.
In addition to providing safety tools, the app prioritizes protecting user privacy.
“We know privacy is incredibly important to our community. Our department personnel can’t view someone’s location unless that person allows them to, and each feature that provides that capability includes a disclaimer. Once the app is closed, or the user ends use of that feature, the location is no longer visible,” said Marissa Garza, CSUF PD public information officer.
The app is available for free download on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and iFullerton. Visit the CSUF Police Department website for more information.
