Cal State Fullerton’s College of Communications will host its 48th annual Comm Week conference April 27-30, offering students a front-row seat to the evolving world of communications through hands-on learning, industry insights and professional networking.
Held at the Titan Student Union, the four-day event will bring together more than 70 industry professionals representing a wide range of fields from journalism and public relations to entertainment, sports media and communication sciences. Designed to connect classroom learning with real-world experience, Comm Week continues its longstanding mission of helping students explore career pathways and build meaningful industry connections.
Throughout the week, attendees can participate in panel discussions, presentations and networking events covering such topics as social media strategy, podcasting, sports communication, music, speech-language pathology and more. The conference reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the communications field while highlighting emerging trends shaping the industry.
Featured speakers include leaders from major organizations and creative industries, such as Adam Chodzko of Angels Baseball, Rachel Green of Disney Experiences, sports journalist Marc Stein and podcast producer Chris Little. The program will also feature a special acoustic performance and Q&A session with recording artist Magnus Ferrell, giving students insight into the music industry from an artist’s perspective.
Comm Week kicks off April 27 with a Club Showcase and Meet the Deans event at 11 a.m., where students can connect with campus organizations and faculty in a welcoming, community-focused setting. The opening keynote will be delivered by Matt Prince, CEO of The Path Project and a former executive with Taco Bell and KFC, who will share his professional journey and leadership insights.
What sets Comm Week apart is its student-led foundation. The event is organized by undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Event Planning and Management class, who collaborate to plan and execute every aspect of the conference. Under the guidance of communications lecturer Michelle Kurland and teaching assistants Natalee Gonzalez and Brianna Jimenez, students gain hands-on experience in event production, marketing and professional engagement.
Now in its 48th year, Comm Week remains a cornerstone experience for communications students at Cal State Fullerton, one that bridges the gap between academic study and industry practice while fostering connections that can shape future careers.
The conference is free and open to the public, with parking available on campus.
