As an integral member of the Executive Management Team, George helped guide IGNITE: The Campaign for UIC, which surpassed its $750 million goal, raising more than $803 million. Overseeing six college-based advancement teams, he led and supported landmark fundraising efforts, including the launch of UIC’s Nurse Anesthesia Program, the M. “Steven brings a remarkable track record of building high-performing teams and securing transformative philanthropic support,” CSUF President Ronald Rochon said. “I look forward to working with him to advance our philanthropic mission and deepen the partnerships that fuel our students’ success.”

Prior to his decade with UIC, George led advancement efforts for the new 230,000-square-foot home of the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a $95 million initiative.

Before that, he helped propel Illinois Institute of Technology to exceed the $250 million goal for its Fueling Innovation campaign. Earlier, George led annual giving programs at Roosevelt University, Access Community Health Network and Berklee College of Music. Throughout his career in higher education, George has been committed to expanding access and opportunity through philanthropy.

“I am beyond thrilled to serve the CSUF community,” George said. “I am energized by President Rochon’s vision, the tenets of Fullerton Forward and the opportunity to elevate the Titan culture of philanthropy, all in support of our outstanding students.”

As vice president for university advancement, George will oversee Cal State Fullerton’s comprehensive fundraising program, alumni relations, government and community relations, advancement operations, and the university’s endowment through the Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation.

A first-generation college student, George earned a Bachelor of Music, cum laude, in vocal performance from Bradley University. He also is a management fellow and board chair emeritus of the Development Leadership Consortium.
