Mike Kingry had more than 25 years working in law enforcement before finding out about the Crime and Intelligence Analysis Certificate program at University Extension. He supported a specialized unit that included one of the program’s instructors, who referred him.
Immediately, he saw how the information provided in classes could benefit his position, which involved identifying, tracking and locating wanted subjects. The program broadened his perception of crime analysis, refined his techniques and refreshed his knowledge of software applications.
“I began implementing link analysis to a large conspiracy case we were working on that led to us discovering additional connections we previously missed,” Kingry said. “The introduction to ArcGIS investigative capabilities helped us import Flock data to visually determine our suspect’s travels.”
He described the classes as relevant and applicable to performing in the field at a “highly professional level.”
“The wealth of experience and knowledge the instructors share is beneficial to anyone,” Kingry said. “Whether you are new to law enforcement or already have time on the job, you will learn skills that make you more efficient and effective. I have thoroughly enjoyed the program.”
