For 25 years, the Warne Family Charitable Foundation has demonstrated the power of philanthropy to create lasting change. As the foundation celebrates this milestone anniversary, Cal State Fullerton’s College of Education is honored to celebrate eight years of partnership and the extraordinary impact of its commitment to aspiring special education professionals.
Since 2018, the foundation has supported 193 CSUF students pursuing careers in special education, helping talented and dedicated individuals take the next step toward becoming educators. For these students, the foundation’s generosity has provided more than financial assistance. It has offered encouragement and opportunity at a critical point in their educational journeys.
For many aspiring special education teachers, completing a credential or advanced degree requires balancing demanding coursework and clinical experiences with work and family responsibilities. A scholarship can ease that pressure, allowing students to remain focused on their preparation and move confidently toward a career in the classroom.
The foundation’s investment has also helped open doors for students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation college students, students who experience financial need and individuals from communities historically underrepresented in the teaching profession. In doing so, the foundation is helping cultivate a more diverse and inclusive pipeline of educators prepared to serve California’s students and families.
The significance of the foundation’s generosity is perhaps best understood through the experiences of the students it supports.
“Giving back to my community is my intrinsic motivation to do what I do. This scholarship allows me to continue my education and become the best teacher I can be for my students,” said a scholarship recipient and graduate student in CSUF’s Master of Science in Special Education program.
The student’s words capture what the Warne Family Charitable Foundation makes possible: the opportunity for future educators to pursue their calling and make a difference in the lives of others.
As the foundation looks toward the next chapter of its 25-year legacy, its impact will continue through the Titan educators it has helped prepare. The 193 students supported by the foundation are building careers dedicated to serving students with disabilities. Over the course of those careers, their influence will extend to thousands of students, families and communities.
