

Kristin Denise Rowe (“Kris”), assistant professor of American studies, is featured in the three-part docuseries, “The Black Beauty Effect,” now streaming on Netflix. The series focuses on Black beauty history and culture, with episode 1 focusing on makeup (“The Beat Effect”), episode 2 focusing on skin care (“The Skin Effect”) and episode 3 focusing on hair (“The Crown Effect”). Rowe is featured in episode 1, and most prominently, in episode 3, as the latter focuses on Black hair politics.
