The College of Humanities and Social Sciences will host its third annual HSS Pub Fest on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the quad in front of the Humanities-Social Sciences Building.
The event celebrates the research, publications, and scholarly achievements of HSS faculty, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and the campus community to explore the diverse work being produced across the college.
Throughout the day, attendees can hear directly from faculty authors about their latest publications and research, covering topics ranging from artificial intelligence in education and natural disasters in Los Angeles to racial inequality in housing, science fiction, twin studies, and more. Author interviews with Jessica Stern, dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, will begin at 9:30 a.m. under the big tent, followed by faculty Author Talks beginning at 12:50 p.m.
Visit the Pub Fest web page to learn more about participating faculty authors, their publications, and their research.
Campus organizations and local vendors will also be tabling throughout the day, offering resources that support research, writing, and publishing. Attendees who visit at least six tables can enjoy free pizza, and free tote bags will be available with any book purchase, while supplies last.
For the first time, HSS Pub Fest will extend beyond the quad with Citations & Libations at the Golleher Alumni House, a special evening gathering featuring religious studies alumnus Ian McCall and his award-winning brewery, ISM Brewing. The event will continue celebrating HSS scholarship with additional faculty author interviews led by Stern.
The Alumni House reception begins at 5 p.m., with faculty interviews starting at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited, and registration is required for this portion of the event. Fill out the online form to RSVP for Citations & Libations at the Alumni House.
