Cal State Fullerton’s French program will host a screening of “Two Days, One Night” on Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in Humanities-Social Sciences Building, room 110.

Oscar Award-winning actress Marion Cotillard received another nomination for her searing, deeply felt performance as a working-class woman desperate to hold on to her factory job. The film is directed by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne. Cotillard plays the role of Sandra, a wife and mother who suffers from depression and discovers that, while she was on sick leave, a majority of her coworkers voted in favor of her being laid off so that they could keep their annual bonuses. She spends a Saturday and Sunday visiting them to try to convince them to change their minds. From this simple premise, the Dardennes create a powerfully humane drama about the importance of community in an increasingly impersonal world.
