The Center for Educational Partnerships and the Transfer Adult Re-entry Parenting and Pregnant Student Center hosted the second annual California Transfer Coalition on Oct. 2. The purpose of the conference is to gather higher education leaders from community colleges and institutions who are devoted to serving transfer students and championing student success.
Through a collaborative effort, the event provided an opportunity for institutional partners to build community, strengthen lines of communication, learn about best practices to support and retain transfer students, provide up-to-date transfer data and information, and identify gaps to reinforce the transfer pipeline.
More than 70 transfer counselors, advisers and specialists from across 19 institutions attended the conference. The conference started with a welcome from David Forgues, vice president for student affairs, who shared CSUF’s institutional commitment to transfer students and his own experience mentoring transfer students. The conference also featured breakout sessions encompassing transfer data and trends, transfer recruitment strategies, transfer advising, financial aid updates, and the transfer planner.
Collaborative partners included the California State University Chancellor’s Office, Academic Affairs, Office of Admissions, Titan Hub, Outreach, Recruitment and Orientation, Fullerton ASPIRE, Academic Advising, and Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning.
