CSUF University Extension Offers Education Programs to Enhance Teachers’ Abilities

Share This:

Cal State Fullerton is known for its affordable, high-quality education programs. CSUF University Extension follows suit with its educator courses and programs — the Teacher Induction Program and the Single Subject Credential Prerequisites Program. These programs are developed in collaboration with the CSUF College of Education to help California K-12 educators earn the credentials they need.

This year, 178 students enrolled in the Teacher Induction Program, and 120 students enrolled in the Single Subject Credential Prerequisites Program.

Fernando Rodriguez-Valls, professor of secondary education, introduced a spring 2025 course titled, Strategies to Build Anti-Racist and Cooperative Linguistic Ideologies in TK-12 Classrooms. The course had more than 50 enrolled students in its first semester and was a resounding success. Rodriguez-Valls teaches this new class in Spanish.

“California has a shortage of linguistically responsive bilingual teachers. This course responds to that call. Taking this course will open many professional doors and opportunities,” said Rodriguez-Valls.

Rodriguez-Valls said there are plans to create similar classes in Korean and Vietnamese as well.
