Regardless of academic background, entering a career in health care is achievable. The Pre-Health Postbaccalaureate Program at Cal State Fullerton is helping students with bachelor’s degrees in non-science fields become competitive applicants for health care school. Through this program, students have earned the opportunity to attend medical, dental, veterinary, optometry, physician assistant and pharmacy programs.
Manpreet Luthra discovered his passion for medicine while serving in the U.S. Army. Through CSUF’s Pre-Health Program, he went on to be accepted into the University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Columbia. Luthra will be graduating this spring, and he recently received the good news that he was accepted into a residency in emergency medicine.
After earning her bachelor’s in psychology, Chanel Labasan decided to pursue a medical career and began searching for postbaccalaureate programs. “It was also important for me to find a program that had successfully matriculated students into medical school while also being cost-friendly,” she said. “The program at CSUF fit both of these requirements and it was the only program that I applied to.” Labasan was able to get accepted into Western University through the linkage programs offered by CSUF.
Evan Chang began CSUF’s Pre-Health Program without ever having taken a biology or science class. After completing the program, he was accepted into one of the top dental schools in the U.S., Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine.
