Data of the Month: National Survey Provides Insight on Undergraduate Students’ Educational Experience

Cal State Fullerton’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning shares a sneak peek at preliminary results from the National Survey of Student Engagement, which collects information from undergraduate students — first-year students and graduating seniors — about their educational experience.

 2024 NSSE Highlights

  • More than three-quarters (77%) of NSSE respondents indicated that their courses challenged them to do their best work
  • 93% of first-year respondents indicated that they intend to return to CSUF, which was significantly higher compared to other CSU institutions (89%)
  • 90% of NSSE respondents agreed that they feel comfortable being themselves at CSUF.
  • 82% of NSSE respondents shared that their experience at CSUF has contributed to their critical thinking and analytical skills
  • 81% of NSSE respondents indicated that they connected ideas from their courses to prior experiences and knowledge quite a bit or very much
