During Black History Month, Cal State Fullerton’s Department of African American Studies has invited hip-hop journalist Kevin Powell to speak on campus Feb. 26 from 1-2 p.m. in the Laurel Multi-Purpose Room (near student housing and The Gastronome).
Powell is a writer for Vibe magazine, where he interviewed Tupac Shakur in the ’90s and is currently working on a biography of the rapper. Powell is the author of 16 books, including the 2024 Grammy-nominated poetry album “Grocery Shopping With My Mother.” He also starred on the original MTV “Real World” series.
