Cal State Fullerton’s Latinx Lab for Storytelling and Social Justice will host an event on Tuesday, April 30, featuring filmmaker Alex Rivera. His presentation on “Artificial Intelligence and Rasquache Imaginaries” will be held from 10-11:15 a.m. in the Titan Theatre.
Rivera is a 2021 MacArthur Fellow, Sundance Fellow, Creative Capital Grantee and was one of the Rothschild lecturers at Harvard University. Rivera is currently an associate professor of filmmaking practice at Arizona State University’s Sidney Poitier New American Film School in Los Angeles. Rivera’s work explores globalization, migration and technology. Working primarily in the genres of documentary and cyberpunk thrillers, Rivera’s films captivate audiences with groundbreaking narratives and visuals about speculative futures that engage current societal issues.
