Share This:

Cal State Fullerton music professor and cellist Bongshin Ko will perform as featured soloist at Walt Disney Concert Hall for the Korean American Music Foundation Benefit Concert on Aug. 21.

This appearance follows her celebrated performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City in October 2023 and New York City’s Central Park in September 2024. She was invited to perform at the Korean War Memorial Concert, “In Remembrance of Our Heroes,” which commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice. That concert, presented by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea and supported by the Ministry of National Defense, the Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations, and the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation, featured Ko in two solo works by Ernest Bloch and Anton Razek with the Seocho Philharmonia Orchestra at Carnegie Hall’s famed Stern Auditorium.

At the upcoming Los Angeles concert, presented in partnership with the Koreatown Youth & Community Center as part of its 50th anniversary celebration, Ko will join the program that will feature an eclectic blend of classical, K-pop and R&B. Ko will perform works by Max Bruch and Antonio Vivaldi. For the “Concerto for Two Cellos” by Vivaldi, Ko will be joined by CSUF alum Kevin Mills.

The Aug. 21 concert begins at 7 p.m. with a VIP reception at 5:30 p.m.

Recognized worldwide for her artistry, Ko has performed in prestigious venues across the United States, Europe and Asia, and is celebrated for her expressive interpretations and dedication to music education. Her return performances at Carnegie Hall and Walt Disney Concert Hall mark career milestones that affirm her place among today’s leading cellists.
