The Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Cal State Fullerton was awarded a grant from the Mysun Foundation to support a partnership with Orange County Conservation Corps, aiming to empower individuals through public service and personal development.
As part of the grant, the Mysun Foundation supports job exploration trainings to show OCCC members different professions and jobs they could eventually move into. As part of this initiative, Anthony Frisbee, CSUF PD police chief, shared his personal story, inspiring many with his journey of resilience and transformation.
Frisbee found himself on a precarious path for much of his youth. A turning point came when his high school track coach learned that he was living in a drug house and decided to provide him stability and support during his senior year. After high school, his first position of public service was with the California Conservation Corps.
Determined to make a difference, Frisbee started taking classes at a community college, working toward his dream of entering law enforcement.
Frisbee’s story underscores the importance of perseverance in driving change. He shared a Harley Davidson quote with OCCC members that made a difference in his life: “When writing the story of your life, don’t let anyone else hold the pen.”
His journey is a powerful reminder of the potential within each person to overcome adversity and make a meaningful difference.
Through support from the Mysun Foundation, Frisbee’s appearance is part of a larger partnership with the OCCC, which aims to support the Arboretum and Botanical Garden at Cal State Fullerton while elevating public service and job readiness of OCCC members.
