Cal State Fullerton alum and current School of Music faculty member Brandon Elliott will publish a forthcoming book with Oxford University Press, “Composing a Living: A Music Creator’s Guide to Money, Career and Relationships,” which is scheduled for release on Sept. 30.

Elliott earned his bachelor’s degree in music-music education in 2011 from CSUF. He now serves the School of Music as a clinical coach for student teachers in choral music education while leading a multifaceted career as a conductor, casting director, nonprofit executive and author.

Co-authored with composer Dale Trumbore, the book blends Elliott’s and Trumbore’s insights with perspectives from 28 living composers. “Composing a Living” explores how music creators can navigate money, career and relationships while sustaining a fulfilling artistic life. The book is part practical guide and part collection of lived experiences, reflecting Elliott’s ongoing commitment to helping artists thrive.
