On March 12, the Health Education Pathways Program hosted a Professions and Majors in Health Care Fair in the Titan Student Union Pavilion. The event introduces students to the wide array of professional fields and job opportunities available in health care and behavioral health care, as well as the educational pathways that will prepare them for such fields.

A total of 251 students attended the event. Many of the attendees were CSUF students, but they were joined by community college students and high school students from Anaheim Union High School District and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.

Fifteen professional organizations participated in the fair, many of which are major employers of CSUF graduates and well known in Southern California. They included: Orange County Health Care Agency, Hoag Hospital, Providence (St. Jude Medical Center and Behavioral Health & Primary Care Integration), Kaiser Permanente (Orange County and Downey), Children’s Hospital of Orange County, Veterans Affairs Administration, Pacific Clinics, Korean Community Services, Southland Integrated Services, OC Specialty Health & Hospitals, Alzheimer’s Orange County, Coury & Buehler Physical Therapy, and Norooz Clinic Foundation.

CSUF departments that were represented included: Aging Studies; Biological Science; Communication Sciences and Disorders; Counseling; the Career Center; the Health Professions Advising Office; Human Services; Kinesiology; Outreach, Recruitment and Orientation; Military Science; Public Health; School of Nursing; and Social Work.

Students who attended the event reported that they benefited greatly from exposure to information about the professional fields within health and behavioral health care and to the educational pathways that lead to those fields.
