For his outstanding work in student affairs,Cal State Fullerton’s Clint-Michael Reneau is the recipient of the 2020 AVP/Senior-Level Student Affairs Professional Award from NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
Graduating seniors in the Abrego Future Scholars and the Nicholas Academic Scholars were recently honored during a virtual celebration, hosted by Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Scholars, which oversees the programs.
For Makayla Herrera’s leadership, civic engagement and advocacy, she is the recipient of the 2020 Tuffy Award for President of the Year, sponsored by Cal State Fullerton’s Division of Student Affairs and the Student Success Initiative.

For her tireless servant leadership, passion for CSUF and enthusiastic support for students, women and underrepresented populations, Irene Matz has been awarded the Faculty Leadership in Collegial Governance Award.
For his prolific and exceptional research, Sudarshan Kurwadkar, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, has been selected as the recipient of Cal State Fullerton’s 2020 L. Donald Shields Excellence in Scholarship and Creativity Award. The award is presented to a faculty member in recognition of outstanding scholarship.
Cherlyn Converse has been awarded the university’s 2020 Outstanding Lecturer award for her passion and commitment to students and innovative curricula in the area of mathematics.
For his innovative and prolific research endeavors, track record of leadership and commitment to teaching, computer engineering professor Kiran George is this year’s recipient of Cal State Fullerton’s Outstanding Professor Award. The award is given to a faculty member for outstanding teaching, distinction in scholarship and/or creative activities, and contributions to the university and California State University system.
