Cal State Fullerton along with CSU Channel Islands, Northridge, Sacramento and San Francisco, was recognized by Sierra magazine as some of the most environmentally sustainable colleges and universities in the U.S.
The campuses were ranked by the publication among the top 200 “Coolest Schools” for their initiatives ranging from sustainability outreach campaigns, organic gardens, faculty research and energy-saving facilities.
Cal State Fullerton has built a 30-year history of instituting efficient, sustainable and green practices that save money and better the campus community. Examples range from lighting upgrades to green building construction and installation of solar panels and charging stations for electric vehicles. The campus is covered with drought-tolerant plants and bioswales to retain rainwater, and opportunities abound for students to learn and research, lead efforts and to reach out to the community beyond the campus.
