The second annual AI & Academia Conference brought together nearly 200 faculty from 14 California State University campuses to share ideas around “The Future of Critical Thinking” through workshops, panels and roundtable discussions.

The Feb. 20 event was hosted in CSUF’s Pollak Library and was planned by faculty fellows in the Writing Across the Curriculum LIAISONS Program; Leslie Bruce, lecturer in English, comparative literature and linguistics; and Alison Marzocchi, professor of mathematics; with support from the Faculty Development Center and Titans Thinking Together.

Keynote sessions included: “Strategies for Using Writing to Teach Critical Thinking in the Age of Gen AI” by Dan Melzer from UC Davis; a livestream recording of the “My Robot Teacher, My Human Classroom: Active Learning That Keeps Students Thinking” episode from the “My Robot Teacher podcast” by Taiyo Inoue; and Sarah Senk from Cal Poly Maritime Academy.
