Helping Students in Distress, Connecting Them With Resources and Basic Needs Services

The campus community is invited to attend any of the following trainings offered by Care Services.

Helping Students in Distress Training (for faculty and staff)

Faculty and staff will learn how to identify and respond to concerning student behaviors. Attendees will learn the differences between distressing, troubling, and threatening behaviors, and how to respond appropriately including when to refer cases to the Dean of Students Office or other campus departments for additional support. Register in advance for any of the training dates below:

Helping Peers in Distress Training (for students)

Not knowing what to do when a friend or peer shares troubling or worrisome problems can be unsettling. This training is designed to help CSUF students gain confidence when helping other Titans who may disclose various forms of distress. Students are invited to attend the training below:

Supporting Students with Care Services and Student Conduct (for faculty and staff)

Sometimes an incident or concern regarding student behavior may need to be addressed through Care Services and Student Conduct. This presentation will explain the differences between Care Services and Student Conduct, when to contact staff in each area, and how to support students navigating the care services and conduct processes. Please see training date, time, and location below:

Basic Needs Ambassador Training (for faculty and staff)

The Basic Needs Ambassador Training examines current trends related to food, housing, and financial insecurity, relevant cultural considerations, and recognition of boundaries necessary for working with students who experience basic needs insecurity.  Faculty and staff participants will gain knowledge and skills that facilitate connecting students with resources. Register in advance for any of the training dates below:

Basic Needs Ambassador Seminar (for Students)

The Basic Needs Ambassador Seminar examines current trends related to basic needs insecurity faced by college students, how Titans can support their peers, and students will learn about available on and off-campus resources for support. Students are invited to attend one of the seminar dates below:
