New CSUF Office for Civil Rights and Equity Launches Upcoming Events

Share This:

Cal State Fullerton’s Title IX and Gender Equity office and its Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation office have combined to form the new Office for Civil Rights and Equity within the Division of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion. The OCRE is excited to continue to support students and employees, now in one convenient location. The OCRE is committed to preventing discrimination, harassment, misconduct and retaliation, and to cultivating a safe and welcoming campus community for all CSUF Titans.

The OCRE will host several upcoming opportunities for students and employees to learn more about the office, its mission and goals, and how it will continue to champion inclusivity and equity at CSUF.

On Nov. 20, the OCRE will host “All About Responsible Employee Reporting,” a professional development opportunity for all CSUF employees to learn more about what it means to be a responsible employee per CSU’s Nondiscrimination Policy. Employees will leave with a better understanding of when, why and how to report matters to the OCRE as well as with sample language to use when describing their reporting responsibilities to others. Light refreshments will be served. Complete the form to RSVP for the event.

On Dec. 3, the OCRE will host a meet and greet event to introduce the newly formed OCRE to the campus community. Attendees will be some of the first to get a glimpse into how the OCRE is growing and how it will continue to serve the Titan community. Refreshments will be served. RSVPs are appreciated, but not required.

On Dec. 5, the OCRE will host “Words Have Power: Understanding and Addressing Microaggressions,” an interactive Zoom workshop meant to empower participants to address and prevent the intentional and unintentional comments and actions that may impact individuals’ sense of safety and belonging. Participants will leave with skills and tools for identifying, addressing and preventing microaggressions at CSUF and beyond. Participants are welcome to enjoy their lunch during this virtual workshop and register using the online form.

Additionally, campus and community members can check out OCRE events webpage for further information on future events, especially the ongoing Civil Rights and Equity Ambassador Program, open to both students and employees. Both the student and employee ambassador programs will be offered every semester, and existing Title IX ambassadors are encouraged to attend an upcoming Civil Rights and Equity Ambassador refresher lunch in order to get recertified and officially become Civil Rights and Equity Ambassadors.
